The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) of the 群交Porn (群交Porn) presents this next webinar in its 2024 Professional Learning Series:听 Creating a Proficiency Mindset in your World Language Classroom.听 This webinar is offered free of charge for world language educators and administrators working and studying in New York State educational institutions.

Webinar description:听 This webinar is designed to get you feeling comfortable with creating a proficiency mindset in your world language classroom. The presenter will discuss strategies for introducing students to the three modes of communication and familiarizing them with what they are expected to be able to do in each mode at their proficiency level and beyond. She will demonstrate how to reinforce the proficiency mindset by consistently applying common, standards-aligned rubrics to each performance task. The presenter will share examples of these rubrics with informal and formal performance tasks. With a proficiency mindset, your students will go from asking, 鈥淚s this a 100%?鈥 to 鈥淚s this Intermediate Low?鈥

Registration process: 听All participants are encouraged to pre-register for this event.听 Pre-registration will close on Monday, September 16, 2024; there will be no same-day registrations. 听Once the registrant's email address has been verified as being from a New York State school, college, or university, an email confirming their registration will be sent.听 Twenty-four hours prior to the event, all registered individuals will receive login instructions with the link to join the webinar.听 Only pre-registered attendees will be eligible for a certificate documenting attendance and/or CTLE hours.听

Webinar presenter:听 Elise Micale Brown is a dedicated educator who teaches 8th and 9th grade French at North Syracuse, inspiring students with her passion for language and culture. She holds a Bachelor's degree in French and a Master's degree in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology, reflecting her commitment to effective and innovative teaching practices. Beyond the classroom, Elise has demonstrated strong leadership within the language education community by serving as Vice President, President, Past President, and Social Media Chair of LECNY, where she has contributed significantly to promoting language education and professional development among her peers.
